5 Line Inspired Logos

The dawn of the doodle has arrived and can be found on everything from international bank logo marks – like Ageas – all the way down to design schools and even creative personal logos. Here are a few doodles of inspiration that caught my eye. Whilst the marks are fun, creative and organic designers argue whether they should be considered “professional” logos at all. What do you think?

Not your mamma’s Coke.

Who knew the future of coke would be square? Designer Andrew Kim has a futuristic take on the future of one of the worlds most famous brands, Coke. Andrew chose the square bottle shape with “off set” bottle opening to give you the most comfortable drinking experience. These bottles stack perfectly on top of one another and once empty crunch down to 66% smaller size. Nice work Andrew, now just get Coke to go for it and you’ll be set.

OkGo new video – This too shall pass

The new music video from okgo is sure to go viral. Their use of abstract objects to create long drawn out sequences flowing to their new music is sweet and noteworthy. This is not the first time the band has focused on the design of their video rather than the music itself. Still pretty amazing. Check out the video after the jump!

Envirosurfer.com Site Launch

My friend and client – Brandon Moyles – has launched a new wave in the surf industry, Envirosurfer.com! His new site is geared toward the environmentally conscious surfer, but, no matter how many waves you surf in a year this is gear everyone can wear(I will be). Brandon kindly answered a few of my interview questions surrounding Envirosufer’s creation, products and charity work. Be sure to check them out and read Brandon’s full interview after the jump.

How did you come up with the idea for you site?

I’ve noticed a trend in the surf industry of more and more surfers leaning toward eco-friendly products. I wanted to give surfers one place to go to find gear that was not only eco-friendly but performed well too.

How did you decide to donate profits to different organizations?

I feel like there is more surfers can do than just buy eco-friendly surf products. In addition to being a site that promotes an environmentally conscious lifestyle, I wanted to promote taking action as well. There is a program called 1% for the planet that many companies join to give back. I just felt like 1% wasn’t enough. Every 3 months we pick out a new environmentally friendly non-profit and cut them a check for 5% of what we pulled in that quarter. We also feature them on our site under the “Enviro Spotlight” section to inform visitors of how they can get involved.

How do you pick products to feature?

We’re adding new products every day to the site. To be honest, I’ve become a huge fan of some of them and I want to make sure they don’t get overlooked by the general surfer. I hand pick them and feature a new one on the main page each week.

Will you feature your own product line?

We will be coming out with a couple “Shop Tees” that will mainly be promoting the shop more than anything, but I don’t plan on doing anything beyond tees and hoodies.

Do you have future plans to extend your line to other sports?

Absolutely. Once we gain some traction in the surf industry the plan is to branch out into snow as well.

Inside South Africa

This is a great intro video that will be seen by millions and millions of people during this years FIFA World Cup in South Africa(beginning June 9th and lasting for 4 weeks). The motion graphics are amazing and this video uses some of the latest effects, rendered with simple fly out shapes and great audio. “Kindle Prepare to Die” – iPad

Well after years of speculation, mystery, rumors, gossip, trademarks, false domain registry and consumer brouhaha the Apple i…i…iPad is here! What, the heck? The iPad?!?! Oh well I guess we will just have to get over that one. This little plastic, chrome and glass device is going to change the world one more time and its not going to take years like the iPod. I could talk about features and functionality until my fingers are bleeding and your eyes develop cataracts but lets save us all time and pain with the official Apple iPad video(HD of course!).
